UNIX SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR 

Location: Lakewood, CO 

Job Description: 

Accomplished in all areas of analysis, design, installation, implementation, configuration, tuning, administration, operation and security of mid-to-large-tier Solaris /Linux systems.  Job responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

- Participates on teams in the analysis and design of new large-scale Solaris/Linux systems and/or modifications to existing systems.  Performs high level analysis of Solaris/Linux systems and applications software requirements, processes, and characteristics for the purpose of assuring efficient and effective software design and operation. 

- Recommends expansion/replacement of existing hardware and software components utilizing latest state-of-the-art hardware and software available.  Implements system software Solaris/Linux environment strategy for the data center.  Defines controls to insure the integrity of the Solaris/Linux system design and the efficient and effective implementation of project level phases.   

- Participates on teams responsible for the development of Solaris/Linux based operating system applications.  Assures consistency in design and implementation of the operating system and applications regarding security compliance and best practices when assisting clients; identifies methodology/means of tying together interactive systems for supporting multiple functions and activities. 

- Evaluates new system and application requirements regarding impact to the Solaris/Linux operating system environment.  Provides technical assistance to application database administrators and identifies methodologies for integrating needed components of individual databases in support of multiple functional/activities.  Works closely with telecommunications specialists to develop and support system software and hardware designs for applications. 

- Evaluates specifications and features of new products, performing product comparisons, feasibility and cost benefit analysis, and performance and compatibility testing.  Review customer business requirements and makes technical recommendations regarding software /hardware to meet business needs.  Conducts post-implementation evaluations of existing computer systems to determine cost, performance, adequacy, and problem impacts and resolutions. 

- Advises, assists, and instructs personnel of other agencies and activities in applying innovations and advanced techniques to system problems and projects. 

- Performs installation of Solaris/Linux and/or client server operating system software and hardware including, Solaris/Linux supporting tools and interface support.  Evaluates and recommends new Linux based workstation software and hardware within the environment to improve Solaris/Linux based functionality.    

- Performs Solaris/Linux administration functions including installation, maintenance, and integration of all facets of Solaris/Linux system software products.  Performs Solaris/Linux research, analysis, and provides recommendations for the most productive use of the variety of computer resources. 

- Performs problem determination, on Solaris/Linux based systems and performs resolution in areas beyond the expertise of applications developers. 

- Assists Security Officer in monitoring operating system security.  Maintains patches, intrusion detection and hardening processes in conjunction with policies and guidelines.   

- Develops and maintains these guidelines to ensure they are up-to-date and in compliance with Government mandated policies.  

- Controls consistency and integrity monitoring and health checks of the operating system structure by working individual bureau representatives on specific Solaris/Linux operating system or application developed software to ensure systems remain fully operational. 

- Maintains disaster recovery configurations for Solaris/Linux systems, performs annual disaster Recovery test for these platforms and maintains disaster recovery documentation and procedures in support of these systems.  

- Understands Government policies and terminology in support of security requirements.  For instance, understands NIST, ST&E, C&A, POA&M, Audit**s etc** and supports the taskings, deadlines and compliance associated with these requirements. 

- Maintains security configuration management software, hardware system/component controls and documentation/procedures.  Conducts or assist security staff in conducting internal system reviews and audits. 

- Performs performance data collection, analysis, and tuning of the operating system and associated sub-systems.  Works with database administration personnel to ensure the integrity of the database environments.  Assists database administrators with performance and capacity issues. 

- Maintains skills to stay current with technology

SENIOR SYSTEMS SUPPORT SPECIALIST – TEAM LEAD 

Location: Washington, DC 

Job Description: 

Candidate will have leadership qualifications with the ability to work hands-on as well as lead technical staff with projects in a Windows 2003 environment. Candidate will have experience with MS Windows 2003 (upgrades and general support), Active Directory, SMS, MS Exchange, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VMWare, Citrix, Server backup software, Net-work/Server monitoring software.  

Job Requirements: 

- At least 4 years experience in a large organization responsible for administering, operating, maintaining, and securing a large-scale computer network.  

- At least 3 years experience in a technical leadership or supervisory role.

- At least 3 years experience in a large organization responsible for deploying computer system applications in a client/server network environment. 

- Thorough knowledge of computer network telecommunications, Windows Server operating systems, and the TCP/IP protocol.

- Thorough knowledge of network management protocols and related standard tools.

- Thorough knowledge of network-based application software such as Exchange, and SMS. 

- Thorough knowledge of telecommunications, network, and computer security issues and established security practices. 

- At least 4 years experience troubleshooting network problems and providing solutions. 

- 2 years in testing and implementing PC/LAN technologies and computer system applications.  

- 3 years networking administration experience in a large organization or corporation.

- Experience evaluating current networks, identifying deficiencies, and recommending performance improvements. 
 

IT SECURITY POLICY ANALYST 

Location: Reston, VA  

Job Description: 

Candidate is to develop enterprise security policies.  The candidate must be familiar with Certification and Accreditation (C&A) security guidance provided from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication (SP) 800-26 Security Self- Assessment Guide for Information Technology Systems, and NIST SP 800-53A, Guide for Assessing the Security Controls in Federal Information Systems.  The candidate must be able to follow guidance provided, have good speaking, writing, and interviewing skills; be able to work both independently and as a team member.
